Honiton ladies into last 16 of the national Yetton Trophy

Honiton ladies had another busy week, writes Joan Mackintosh.

They had a national Yetton Trophy match against Taunton that saw them win 100-57 to book a place in the last 16 in the country!

The top Honiton rink was the one of R Hirons, J Heard, J Grant and S Hiscocks, who won 33-9.

In the last 16, which will be played on the first Saturday of next year (January 5), Honiton will face either Isca or Torquay United.

In a County Foxlands competition meeting with Torbay, Honiton were beaten 69-59, which left them banking two points to the winner’s eight.

The top Honiton rink was the one of B Maynard, A Hillyear, M Vessey and D Morley, who won 19-17.

The County Lane Trophy saw Honiton take on Madeira and it was the Exmouth club who took the honours with a final score of 73 shots to 52. Honiton did bank four points for their efforts and the top rink was the one of J Baker, L Hurley-Smith and S Kenny, who won 19-14.

There was also a men’s Over-60s League meeting with Sidmouth which saw the Honiton men beaten 85-67. In the defeat, the top Honiton rink was the one of T Tooley, K Clarke, M Dart and T House, who won 23-17.
