Honiton ladies into last 32 of Yetton Trophy

Honiton ladies skilfully negotiated their way into the last 32 clubs in the country in the Yetton Trophy competition, writes Julie Grant.

They succeeded in winning against ISCA 96-69 with the top rink, playing away, of Ann Brown, Ann Hillyear, Carol Smith and Julie Grant scoring 35 to 13.

The men had a splendid win in their Over 60 League game against Sidmouth, 95 to 67. All rinks won, but the best were captain Alan Fuller, Ken Clarke, Tony Tooley and Trevor Pipe 31-10. The men also won their friendly fixture away at Sidmouth 48- 46 with a top triple of Richard Chapple, Mike Critchley and Bill Nicholls 19-13.

The ladies faired less well playing Sidmouth at home losing 41-68, but with a winning rink of June Lee, Jenny Baker, Phyllis Milner and Marian Vessey 16-12.

In the mixed friendly there were winning ways against Ottery St Mary 95-46, top rink captain Judith Broom, Joan Mackintosh, Daphne Courtney and Ken Clarke 29-11.
