The main competition this week was for the Grannies Cup. Jan Portlock was the winner with a very good score of 41 points and runner up Chris Luttman had 37. The Stableford, which also took place resulted in a win in the Silver division for Mona Carter with 36 points, Bronze 1 winner was Chris Luttman 37pts, Bronze 11 Margaret Jory 39.The Christopher Cup, restricted to those who had not previously won a cup, was also decided. This year's winner was Rosemary Poole and runner up Sharon Dacre. The final competition was the annual match between the men and the ladies for the Hansford Trophy. This is foursome format of seven pairs. Until this year, apparently, honours had been even. However, the ladies had a resounding victory of 7-0 this time. The fact that we were allowed five added points on our handicaps and some courtesy shots as well may just have influenced the result a trifle but we are confident that we would have won anyway! The whole thing was great fun and we all thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon in spite of the very strong wind which may also have helped the ladies a little. It has been decided that we shall have fewer courtesy shots next year to encourage the men and give them a bit more of a chance.
