Archant

Before the snow put paid to bowling, not that the snow got onto the indoor green, just that bowlers couldn’t travel, Honiton won one and lost one of their friendly games, writes Julie Grant.

Against Madeira came the loss, but only by 46 shots to 49, with one of the three rinks winning.

That successful rink was the one of Terry Linsdell, Lindsey Howell, Garry Osborne and Jimmy Smith, who won 27-9.

The victory was over Exonia by 70 shots to 53 with a top rink of Malcolm Richards, Roger Binmore, Barry Adlem and Margaret Bright, 26-15.

Devon ladies have triumphed in the South West Counties League for the first time in living memory!

Having played Dorset, Somerset and Cornwall, both home and away on six rinks, Devon were victorious on overall shot difference by beating Somerset by 162 shots to 102 in the final game that was played last week.

During this campaign, five Honiton bowlers contributed: Rita Barwick, Carole Binmore, Joan Heard, Rosemary Hirons and Shirley Hiscocks. So, well done, to those ladies.
