The past week was a very successful one for the ladies of Honiton Bowling Club, writes Julie Grant.

First they won their friendly against Sidmouth 62-57, with a top rink of Yvonne Williams, Di Hawkins, Dulcie Broughton and Shirley Hiscocks. Next came another win for the Lane ladies this time narrowly beating Mid Devon by one shot.

Then it was the Yetton Plate, played at Plymouth, but against a Cornish team from Veryan. Honiton came out on top, 114-56, all four rinks winning, but with an outstanding top rink of Lynda Dommett, Dulcie Broughton, Joan Heard and Sue Evans with a magnificent 41-7 victory. Honiton are now into the last 16 in the country having to play Thornbury on January 24.

The men had less success losing their Interclub to Plymouth B 90-78, but with a winning rink of Ian Veitch, Steve Coles, Roger Binmore and Steve Dommett, 24-13. Then they lost their Over 60 match against ISCA 87-65, even though the two home rinks won, the best winning rink being Ian Veitch, Peter Goodwin, Roger Binmore and Mike Dart. Finally, the club’s mixed match against Exonia was a winning one at 51-46.
