With some rain having fallen in the last few days, the course was showing signs of re-growth on the fairways - a great relief to some, but the dry conditions had meant that many ladies had been exceeding expectations until the rain came, writes Ann Desmoulins.

The annual Ladies’ Captain’s team versus the Vice-Captain’s team was the competition of the day.

Teams were drawn and the format was team match play. The most entertaining part of the day was the announcement of the results afterwards where each team had to own-up as to who won their match.

Amid much laughter and the employment of the ‘swing-o-meter’ somehow the captain’s team won, with the final result being seven matches to two.

The infamous Pig also made an appearance and various ladies were obliged to donate to the Captains’ Charity for various misdemeanours – both real and imaginary!
