Honiton Badminton Club have won the Exeter and District Knockout Plate competition.

Played at the Riverside in Exeter Honiton faced Ringswell for a hard fought, but friendly final. The two clubs meet frequently in the local league and know each other well.

On the night, Honiton won the majority of the games and, for the second time in the club’s history, will have their name on the trophy.

The team of Janet Ingram, Ethan Leach, Helena Williams, Roger Tucker, Sue Caller, Matt Durrant, Sue Fallows and Kevin Greenwell won by a handsome margin of 406 points to 280.

This success comes towards the end of a season in which the league teams are doing very well, with the Mixed and Men’s teams at the top of their divisions and likely to get promotion, with the Ladies’ team safely in mid-table.

The club runs through the summer and welcomes new players on a “pay and play” basis. Women players would be especially welcome.

Sadly the club does not have the facilities to coach beginners.
