Archant

The early starters were those ladies competing for the Medal Trophy (eligibility determined by winning their Divisions in all medal competitions throughout the previous season), writes Ann Desmoulins.

For all other entrants it was a normal Medal competition-one of the only ones the weather has allowed them to play!

After overnight rain the course was very wet which made good play difficult. However, this did not stop last year’s captain Janet Hughes from wowing them all and returning the winning card of a nett 70 to win the trophy and the only one to break par.

In terms of the medal results, the Silver Division winner was Janet Hughes with nett 70. Second was decided on countback with Sarah Loader, with a nett 75, edging Jackie Seager into third place.

The Bronze One winner was Diana Gee with nett 76. Here again the minor places were close and countback was called into play to see Chris Luttman, with a nett 81 take second and third was Lesley Oxenham.

The Bronze Two winner was Lesley Farley with nett 77. Second was Cathy Pawley, nett 78, and third was Susan Hyde, nett 82.
