Honiton’s men bowled their way to a success against Torquay United 47 shots to 27 in the Charles Parrott competition, writes Julie Grant.

Honiton were successful both home and away and the best rinks were, at home, Ron Rogers, Barry Randall, Jimmy Smith and Gerry Stafrace, 23-15 and away, the rink of, Alan Fuller, Barrie Singleton, Kevin Vernon and Steve Coles, who won 24-12.

In the mixed friendlies, Honiton won the triples game against Topsham 76 shots to 54, top rink Roy Vincent, Di Hawkins and Heather Chambers with a splendid 32-4 victory.

Against the Nomads, Honiton also recorded a good win 93 shots to 78 with a top rink of Garry Osborne, Peter Barradell, Norman Baxter and Carol Armitage, 28-18.

The ladies entertained the DCLIBA to a four rink match followed by sandwiches and cakes for tea. An enjoyable afternoon was had by all, but the county won by 71 shots to Honiton’s 61. The best home rink, winning 26-16, were Yvonne Williams, Di Hawkins, Janet Sharman and Rita Barwick.
