Honiton mixed section had 36 members enjoying splendid spring-like weather, striding the fairways for a Rye Foursomes Stableford, writes Liz Rogers.

This is a variation on straight foursomes with each pair deciding on the first tee who will take the second shot on the odd or even numbered holes.

Included in the competitors this week were the club captain Stewart Slater, lady captain Olwen Eaton, lady vice captain Su Calver and seniors’ captain Mike Watts, with club vice captain Julian Phillips making his debut in a Tuesday mixed competition (almost a full set of captain’s on parade!)

The winning score this week was 40 points, carded by Jane Watts and Paul Ritchie. With 38 points in second place were the pairing of Catherine Doherty and David Rouse. Sue Ritchie and Mike Watts took third with 37 points on countback from Hilda Hoepelman and Ian Guy.

Sue and Paul were this weeks organisers and the lady captain Olwen presented the prizes.
