Honiton’s mixed section had over 20 members take part in an American Foursomes stableford competition, writes Liz Rogers.

This format gives players a chance of, ‘two bites of the cherry’, so to speak, as both tee off - then both play the others ball - then decide with which ball to continue playing the hole.

Thirty-seven points was the score for first and second places, which was excellent considering the extremely windy condition.

Just taking the first place on countback was country member Sally Chapman, playing with Keith Bellinger.

Second place went to lady vice-captain Su Calver and club chairman Peter Clarke.

In third place, with 35 points, were Elizabeth Wood and Cyril Dann. Club captain Stewart Slater presented the vouchers.

The organisers this month are Di and Phil Wall.
