American Foursomes was the format for the latest meeting of the popular Tuesday Mixed competition, writes Liz Rogers.

It is played in pairs with each player driving and then both playing the second shot from their partner’s ball.

It is only then that a decision is made on which ball would finish the hole and so it is a great format for relaxed friendly golf.

The winners this week, with an incredible score of 48 points, were Catherine and Charlie Doherty. In second place with 43 points were Andrea Squire and John Frith.

Third and fourth places were taken by Rosemary Whiteley and Bob Barnes (39) and Dot Grove and Jason Gosling (38), respectively.

Charlie then gave a vote of thanks to the organisers, Linda and John Northover, and the bar and catering staff.
