The Honiton Tuesday Mixed meeting saw the October competition contested with the Chivers Trophies up for grabs, writes Andy Wagner.

Once again the extended summer weather did the players proud and it was well supported with many golfers having spent the previous three days glued to TV sets taking in the Ryder Cup!

The Chivers Trophy format is greensomes stableford drawn for playing partners.

Sometimes - as in this months draw - husbands and wives names are drawn out as a pair - sometimes it must be said with a groan!

Lots of married couples play well together as was the case with this months winners Janet and David Hughes with a good score of 38 points.

Thirty-four points saw Stephanie Barnes and Ian Guy take second place and third, with 33, were Maureen Tollemache and Den Calver.

Janet and David who have been Octobers organisers of these mixed competitions were thanked for their work.
