Twenty members of the Honiton mixed group were so glad that the rain they have had to contend with lately for the mixed competitions had ‘disappeared’ and it managed to stay dry overhead, writes Liz Rogers.

Although the course was wet and muddy in places, the greens were very receptive. The format was stableford off full handicap - teams of four with the best lady and best gents score on each hole to count.

The winners were ladies’ vice captain Jane Watts with seniors’ captain and husband Mike playing with Sue and Paul Ritchie, and their winning score was 79 points.

Second place was taken by Lesley Farley, Cathy Uttley, John Frith and Chris Poole with 76 points.

From the winning team Paul gave a vote of thanks to Elizabeth and Ken Wood, the organisers, and the catering and bar staff.
