Topsham 40, Honiton Musketeers 5 Honiton Musketeers Under-13s were hit by unavailability as they slipped to a heavy defeat.
Just a week after the thumping of Lytchett Minster the Musketeers came down to earth with a big bang against a useful Topsham side.
Playing into the wind in the first half the interval was reached with the hosts just 12-5 ahead. The lone Honiton score came from a trademark burst through midfield by Henry William.
Thinking the hard work had been done given they had the elements with them in the second half, the young Lacemen were then guilty of complacency, loose tackling and poor decision making that allowed Topsham to break out from defence and run in three converted tries to put the game beyond the Musketeers. Luke Bralsford tried hard to get the boys going forward, but the game ended with the Topsham winger again slipping tackles and touching down under the posts. The Musketeers will have
to improve as they head into battle next week against Torquay in the Devon Plate semi-final.
