Honiton Running Club member Howard Bidmead has been travelling slightly further afield of late and, and on trip to Australia, he took part in the Hamilton Island 5k Park Run, writes Judy Davey.

It starts at 7am as it is so hot, but it was still 29 degrees even at that time.

They had three water stops en route and Howard made use of them all.

It was a beautiful course along the bay, but with two steep - albeit short - climbs.

There were only 28 runners and Howard was sixth in 23.06, saying he’s run slower in Park Runs at home.

They even had a kangaroo join in, bounding along at the side of the road.
