Honiton Running Club crowns their stars of 2013

Honiton Running Club recently held its AGM and Annual Awards Evening at The Otter Inn, writes Judy Davey.

Club members were awarded trophies in recognition of achievements made during 2013.

The Captain’s Trophy presented to the Male Runner of the Year, was won by Pete Lyus whilst the Captain’s Trophy for the Female Runner of the Year went to Linda Pike.

Other award handed out were; Most Improved Runner – Wendy Williams; Points Trophy winner – Richard Harvey; Points Trophy runner-up – Suzanne Spiller; Pointless Award – John Burgess; Handicap Trophy winner – Ross Penwill; Handicap runner-up – Steve Briggs and Clare Melbourne; Cross Country Trophy – Mark Andow; Extra Mile Award – Mark Dallyn; Chairman’s Good Egg Award – Howard Bidmead; Club Member of the Year – Wendy Le Masurier.

Members were treated to a lovely buffet and those who were particularly helpful during the year were thanked with flowers or wine.

All existing officers were re-elected for a further year.

The Sports Relief Mile, 3-mile or 6-mile races in Honiton take place this coming Sunday, March 23.
