Honiton Running Club held its Ottery 10k last Sunday in beautiful sunshine, but a bit hot for the runners, writes Judy Davey.

First to cross the line was Sam Hopton in the fantastic time of 34:09.

Second was Toby Garrick in 35:04 and he was followed by Miko Cadeddu in 35:21. The lady winner was Amy Jones in 40:37, coming 26th overall and the second lady was Chloe Fox in 42:09 and 38th place, while the third lady was Jo Pearce in 43:42 and 52nd overall. Five of those six were South West Road Runners so well done, to them.

Toby [Garrick] was running for Sidmouth RC. New HRC member, Adam Rooke, was first back for Honiton, coming 40th in 42:14.

Ceri Oak was the first Honiton RC lady home and she also won her age category, finishing 59th overall in 44:38.

Jay Sweetman didn't quite manage to finish under 45 minutes by two seconds, but he was delighted nevertheless coming 61st.

Hadleigh Davies only decided to take part a few minutes before the race start and he did well to come 68th in 46:13.

Not far behind was the second HRC lady, Paula Ferris, who came 70th in 46:20 with London Marathon training still helping her good form.

Louise Bennett is another new HRC member and relatively new runner altogether. She had a fine run finishing 80th in 46:55.

Other HRC finishers: Vernon Gillard, 64th, 45:26; Sam Pollard, 77th, 46:35; Pippa Westall, 92nd, 48:38; Richard Kemp, 121st, 51:37; Daniella Monger, 128th, 52:25; Sean Corbett, 130th, 52:41; Tracey Perry, 140th, 53:26; Emma Davey, 148th, 54:09; Martin Killick, 152nd, 54:19; Simon Bates, 169th, 55:13; Esme Moffett, 174th, 56:09; Kate Harding, 178th, 56:23; Catherine Monger, 245th, 1:02:15; Lucy Daly, 248th, 1:02:24 and Tina Ludlow, 325th, 1:13:06.

There was also a mile fun run around the cricket ground and on the old railway line. The first three boys were; Noah Thomas, Max Spiller (HRC) and Oscar Ganley. The girl top three finishers were Jemima Daly (HRC), Maisie Bennett (HRC) and Saskia Van Rensburg.

Thanks to everyone who made the event the success it was with a record number of entries recorded of 335.
