John Frith putted gloriously to win Div 1 and the competition with a stunning 40 points. John also carded the only 2 of the day and had to juggle 36 balls on his way home. Derek Richards made second spot with 37 points on countback from John Marchant. Winning division two by four clear shots, and coming second overall with 39 points, was Mike Kent. Second spot in Div 2 went to John Fleetwood with 35 on countback with Dean Bonetta.Seniors' SectionOn a glorious summer's day 180 competitors, representing 23 clubs in both Devon and Dorset, took part in this year's Seniors Open. In a close competition the home pairing of Dave Maggs and Vic Wood took the trophy with a score 42 points.The first class presentation of the course was greatly appreciated by both members and visitors, for which the greens staff were commended. A well deserved tribute was also paid to Seniors' Vice-Captain Ben Laite for his superb organisation ensuring the smooth running of the event.To complete a very successful day John Stabb was able to announce that the raffle had raised �357 which was donated to the captain's chosen charity in aid of children.l The ladies played their 36-hole Scratch Championship and the 18 hole Handicap Cup incorporating an EWGA Medal. The 36-hole Scratch Champion is ladies' captain Sue Selway with l80 on count-back from ladies' vice-captain Elizabeth Ward. Third was Jackie Seagar with 181.The Handicap Cup winner was Chris Luttman gross 96 nett 72 on c/b from Joan Smith gross 96 and Elizabeth Ward gross 89.EWGA Medal results were Silver - Winner Elizabeth Ward nett 72; R/up Jane Watts nett 77Bronze 1 - Winner Joan Smith nett 72; R/up Linda Northover nett 73Bronze 2 - Winner Sharon Dacre nett 76; R/up Jan Dickinson nett 77l The proud grandmothers walked the fairways all wanting to win the Grannies' Cup. The winner was grandma-of-five Joan Smith with 40pts. Runner up was new grandma of Henry, Sue Ritchie, with 39pts.
