Honiton's hockey sevens

A very hectic and hot day summers day was enjoyed at the Exeter University seven-a-side hockey tournament by Honiton Hornets.

A very hectic and hot day summers day was enjoyed at the Exeter University seven-a-side hockey tournament.

Half the pitch was used and, with two matches played simultaneously, on occasions players were not too sure if a whistle related to their game or the one alongside!

Honiton found themselves under pressure in all matches losing against the eventual winners, Ashmore, and two other teams, but drawing the final match.

Nine goals were scored against Honiton although, once again, Sue Stone (having returned home early from holiday in Cornwall to 'keep goal' - as did another player, Dawn Mayo) had an excellent game so the score against could well have been higher. And Honiton scored five - Becky Bond and Vanessa Trude each scored two goals, captain, Amy Phillips, one.

l Practices continue with ECVH at Cullompton Sports Centre on Tuesday evenings. Training takes place between 8pm - 9:30pm, with transport being arranged from Dowell Street Car Park at 7:30pm.
