A tae kwon-do student from Honiton was crowned world champion when students from Honiton and Axminster Tae Kwon-Do represented England at the International World Championships in Birmingham.

Over 2,500 competitors from all over the world attended the two-day event, competing in sparring, patterns, team sparring, team patterns and destruction, to be crowned World Champions.

Honiton’s Roxy Spiller was successful in the Girls’ Under 11 Blue Belt Patterns category, beating over 40 other competitors to take the title in a hard fought contest.

Due to the number of competitors, Roxy had to perform her pattern twice, impressing the judges both times to achieve her highest score to date.

Olivia Vincent had another successful competition, adding a silver medal to her previous wins at the South West and English Championship. Olivia also won gold in her tag team sparring event.
