The recent improved weather has left the water beginning to clear at last from the May bloom and fishing is now much improved, writes Mike Spiller.
Boat catches are good on both coasts and, on one trip last week, some thirty ray were captured and released from the Minehead boat The Mary Ellan which is skippered by Marcus James.
The best small eyed ray landed on the trip was one of 11lb 6oz, caught by Wayne Harwood.
Another good fish on the day was a bull huss of 10lb caught by James Trevett.
