Honiton Sea Angling Club recently held a training night for all new and old members at the Honiton Motel

Honiton Sea Angling Club recently held a training night for all new and old members at the Honiton Motel. With an increased membership of 30 per cent last year, the club felt that it should look at a series of training nights for this reason. Around 20 junior and senior members turned up for the first of three training evenings. Club Chairman Dennis Retter and Ben Bradstock (both England field casting team members) gave a good explanation of reel tuning and reel loading and also the best way to tie the shock leader knot. Experienced members of the club showed off their rig and trace tying skills, explaining that some fish are more readily caught on certain trace set-ups than others. Fishing weight selection was also featured, showing what weight should be used in what circumstances. There were also, some home made fishing DVDS being played during the night for all to watch and learn. Two more training nights have been arranged for February 25 and March 11. Both of these will be at the Honiton Motel and start at around 7pm. If you would like to go along give Mike Spiller a ring on (01404) 43397.
