Honiton senior success for Stan Squire

Honiton seniors were again blessed with almost perfect conditions this week for the monthly medal, but of course not all realised their full potential, writes Liz Rogers.

Stan Squire had a commendable net 68, beating Alan Devenny on the back nine to take first spot in division one and the winner’s glass tankard.

The battle for the minor places was a close run things with three players, Ron Graham, Jim Wallis and John Egerton, all scoring net 70.

Vic Wood was an early leader, but had to suffer as his name dropped further and further down the leader board until he dropped out of the prizes altogether! Apparently, little sympathy was shown!

In Division Two, Jack Phillips came first with an excellent net 69. John Vessey was second followed by John Chew, Fred Thomas and Peter Blake.
