Honiton senior success for Steve Butcher

Honiton seniors ventured out on Friday for their first competition for three weeks, courtesy of dry weather at last, writes Ann Desmoulins.

Temporary greens were in play and conditions were still wet, but many excellent scores were recorded notwithstanding.

In Division One, Steve Butcher, the newly-appointed vice-captain, won with 38 points on countback from Chris Street.

David Scott was third on 37 with David Woodruff fourth with 35 points. Larry Goodliffe triumphed in Division Two with a remarkable

43 points with George Blake close behind on 42.

Alex Neil took third place with 36 and Ian Orford was fourth on 34.

There were three twos recorded, scored by David Woodruff on the second, Phil Deacon on the 10th and George Blake on the 12th.
