A slightly unusual stableford, better ball competition was enjoyed by 63 seniors at Honiton, writes Andy Wagner.

In teams of four with two scores to count, it provided a relaxed social event mixing high and low handicappers.

A par score of 72 points was the target to beat and it produced a close finish with both first and second placed teams scoring 80 points.

The team of Tom Tunnicliife, Paul Ritchie, Tony Proudfoot and Pat Purtell won on countback from Peter Morgan, Mike Watts, Vic Wood and Phil Donne-Davis.

In third place were Bill Phillips, Alan Rowley, Stan Squire and Alan Devenny with 77 points.

After last weeks glut of twos this week only three were scored and Phil Donne-Davis, Den Calver and Mike Stroud collected 14 balls each.
