Friday was Senior Vets Cup day at Honiton with the trophy and the monthly medal, up for the taking, writes John Pawley.
Sixty members played in extremely pleasant conditions, if a little breezy on a dry course. The honours in Division One went to Steve Butcher with his return of 67, just ahead on countback from Dave Maggs.
Third was Alan Devenny (69) followed by Pat Purtell (70). Division Two, the monthly medal and the Senior Vets Cup, was won by Bill Phillips with his 65. John Fleetwood had 67, Bob Cockett 69 and Rod Armitage 70.
The top two in each division were rewarded with handicap cuts for their efforts. Six members achieved a two – David Morris and Vic Wood at the second, Alan Devenny and Den Calver at the seven and also Jim Wallis and Gerry Bolton at the 12th.
