It was a nail biting time for Seniors Captain Bill Nicholls in this months medal competition, writes Andy Wagner.

First in the Clubhouse with a nett score of 68 he held the lead until the last player in when John Kerr snatched the first prize and the medal tankard on count back.

It was a good day for the Seniors Committee as Vice Captain John Discombe was placed third in Division One on count back from Mike Kent and Bob Cleal.

In Division Two, Secretary David Ive managed first place with a nett 70.

Colin Hughes 71, Howard Clayton 73, Dick Rowe 74 and Derek Herrington 75 were the other prize winners.

This week also saw the return match with Churston Golf Club in the Emerton-Court knockout.

Trailing 4-1 from the away leg, it was an uphill task and despite winning by three matches to two Honiton’s excellent run in this competition came to an end.

One social match was played against Dainton Park when the visitors reversed their home defeat by beating Honiton by four matches to two.
