Forty-three Honiton seniors played a pre Christmas lunch stableford competition, writes Liz Rogers.

The normal 18 holes was shortened to either 10 or 11 holes to allow golfers ample time to enjoy an excellent Christmas lunch. After the recent wind and rain it was a pleasure to have a fine sunny morning even if a little cool and windy.

Winner of the group starting on the first and playing 10, holes was Tony Williams with a superb 25 points. In second place was Pete Morgan with 20 points and Alan Pollock was third with 19 points.

The group starting on the 11th had the harder challenge of negotiating the tough stretch of holes 15 to 18. Seniors captain Mike Watts rose to the challenge, taking first place with 22 points.

In second place was Phil Faulkner with 20 points and the third prize went to Vic Wood.
