There was a good turnout for a Seniors Murphy competition which is played as a stableford with no points for a net par and exaggerated plus or minus points for birdies and bogeys, writes Andy Wagner.

This format certainly presents a challenge!

It certainly concentrated the minds of a few players, the best being Buzz Harris who won division one with a magnificent plus 15 points.

He was followed by three players on plus eight; Alan Devenny (again), Angus Falconer and Malcolm Matthews whilst Vic Wood took the last prize.

Division two was won by Steve Blundell with plus 10, beating David Coombs by one point. Peter Blake and Ton Tunnicliffe both scored five and Fred Utting took the last prize.

Before the prize-giving, captain Bob Underwood presented John Chew with a generous cheque for club funds, all the proceeds of the Seniors Invitation Day held on July 12.

He also presented club captain David Morgan with a cheque for his charity, Cystic Fibrosis, this as a result of funds raised by the raffle on Invitation Day.
