The Honiton seniors played a pairs better-ball competition for the Anniversary Salvers in a strong and gusty wind, writes Andy Wagner.

At least it gave some comfort as an excuse for some less than flattering scores.

Eric Short and Max Pipe were the best players on the day with 40 stableford points. Vice captain Mike Watts and his partner Pete Morgan were runners-up with 38. One point behind were John Dickinson and Pat Purtell. The last pair’s to collect prizes were Jack Phillips with Andy Sharland who beat Bob Canterbury and Tony Williams with a better back nine score.

Captain Bill Eaton presented the Anniversary Salvers to Max and Eric.
