Honiton Hornets 11, Teign 3rds 0

Honiton completed their highest scoring match of the season this week against Teign 3rds, writes Sophie George.

From the opening whistle Honiton were on the attack with Dawn Mayo claiming the first goal in under five minutes. Whilst play was a little scrappy initially Honiton settled into the match and scored 10 more goals.

Amy Phillips scored one in each half, both from impressive manoeuvres around the Teign defence into the circle. Laura Frank also scored two in similar fashion. Vanessa Trude’s goal came from a well-worked series of passes leaving Ness to slot the ball in past the keeper from her position left post. Sophie George’s goal finished off a well -placed pass to the top of the circle from Becky Hammett who was unlucky not to score minutes later. Katrina Tucker’s goal was, as usual, a fast, accurate, reverse stick shot which left the Teign defence with little hope of stopping it. Finally Lucy Le Cocq scored her first hat-trick of the season, two open field goals with the last being a solid conversion of a penalty corner pass from Laura Frank. Player of the match was Laura Frank with Becky Hammett close behind. Honiton remain top of Petroc Division 2 with an impressive 75 goal difference (85 scored with 10 against).
