The first weekend of November saw Honiton Stingrays travel to the Plymouth Life Centre to compete in the 2018 Dawlish Firecracker.

Some 20 teams travelled from as far afield as St Ives and Penzance attended the event which was a licensed Level 3 ASA event, meaning that times obtained count for swimmers hoping to compete in future County and Regional events.

The Stingrays did very well across both days, with many new PBs (personal bests) recorded and medals won.

It really does represent quite an achievement for Stingrays that they claimed so many medals and PBs given the size of their club against the size of some of the other clubs competing. While Stingrays had 15 swimmers in action, some of the bigger clubs had as many as 40 swimmers competing!

Honiton Swimming Club is an active, friendly group who are always looking for new recruits who want to learn, improve, compete or just enjoy swimming. To learn more about the club visit their website at www.honitonswimclub.uk
