Honiton Swimming Club dived back into action recently, taking part in a number of galas, holding their Time Trials event and also taking swimmers to Plymouth Life Centre to train with Exeter Swimming Club, writes Janet Bargmann.

The first two galas of this season were on September 14 and 15, the first, a team gala held in Crediton, and the second, an Exeter Sprint meet. All swimmers who took part in these events achieved some brilliant personal best’s.

Before the school half-term holiday the club held it’s Time Trials, and for some swimmers it was their first time participating.

The purpose was to see how the swimmers have improved in their strokes over the last year.

On Sunday, November 3, six Honiton swimmers went to Plymouth Life Centre to train with Exeter’s elite swimming squad for a two hour swimming session, followed by an hour of land training- which included press ups, plank, and many other strengthening activities.

All the swimmers enjoyed the experience to train in a 50m swimming pool.

However, it meant a very early start assembling at Honiton car park at 4.45am for the mini-bus ride, and breakfast in the mini-van! A big thank-you to the coaches and parents involved for making this happen.
