Despite the rain, 20 dedicated students from the Star Tae Kwon Do schools volunteered to take part in the demonstration at a Scouts' fun day at Allhallows, Honiton, on Sunday, having already trained for an hour and a half just before.

Instructor Jake Langdon put the students through their paces, kicking off with low contact sparring, followed by some line work, pad work and patterns. Anyone spectating will have noticed that the demonstration team comprised of a number of families showing that Tae Kwon Do is a physical activity that they can do together, but allows everyone to progress at their own pace and ability.

The highlights of the day had to be tempered for safety reasons owing to the weather but, not to be put off, Instructor and Black Belt, Martin McCloughlin demonstrated a flying side kick, jumping over four students and for the finale, senior Black Belts, Kevin Harris and Nick Wareham, performed pattern Ko Dan, demonstrating their power by simultaneously breaking through four roof tiles.

Star Tae Kwon Do students train with qualified, CRB checked, instructors Chloe Lock and Jake Langdon at Honiton and Broadclyst Sports Centres and are members of the Tae Kwon do Association of Great Britain.
