Honiton three-ball success for McCance, Gosling and Knight

For the first time in many years, no-one was caught out by last week's clock change as the men played their three-ball better ball competition, writes John Pawley.
The course, starting to firm up, ensured tough playing conditions, but this suited the winners – namely Haydon McCance, Jason Gosling and Paul Knight.
Their 74 points total was well ahead of Ian Piper, Alan Piper and Keith Crane’s 67. Jason also had the only two of the day, on the 12th, and pocketed 28 balls for his team. The event proved too much for Spencer Macklin, Ross Latcham and Justin Meads, who eventually found solace in the pub.
The planned Seniors medal competition, their first of the year, had to be cancelled due to flooding overnight.
