A Bank Holiday usually guarantees poor weather, and thunderstorms were a possibility for the Treble Six competition on Monday last, writes Ann Desmoulins.

Ten groups of mixed pair teams contested the event in hot sunny conditions - a little too warm to be truthful.

This competition, where the first six holes are played to a better ball format, the next six as greensomes and the last six as foursomes, was introduced to the club in 2005.

Some really good scores ensured the winners were worthy of their prize and the ownership of the Treble Six trophy for the year.

One two was recorded by Chris and Keith Major winning all the balls. In second place were club president Max Pipe and his partner Cathy Pawley with 40 points, beating Barry and Vicki Rogers on count-back.

In first place with a score of 44 points were Elizabeth Ward and Brian Morrison.
