Honiton trio land President’s Salver success at Churston

A three-man team from Honiton took the main prize at the Devon Men’s Veteran Golfers Association (DMVGA).

The ‘President’s Salver’ was held at Churston Golf Club, the home course of the DMVGA president, Ian Drawbridge. The day was fine and dry and the course was in excellent condition with very testing greens that kept the scores quite low if compared with the same event last year.

The three man team from Honiton; Jim Wallis (11) 36, Tony Williams (13) 43 and Dave Maggs (14) 25, after scoring 104 stableford points and each of the trio won £50 in prize money.

Second were a team from Okehampton who scored 100 points and third were a trio from Tiverton with a score of 999 points.

The ‘Harry Keen Salver’ for the best individual score was awarded to Honiton’s Tony Williams (13) for his score of 43 points, his days work including a pair of twos.
