Dawlish Barca 2, Honiton Troopers 1 Honiton Troopers Under-9s were edged out in a close encounter, writes Dave Haysom.
Troopers started strongly with Lewis Clyburn, Peter Osborne and Harvey Haysom working hard in midfield and creating chances for Louie Stevens.
With some solid defending from Jess Spence and Ben Mottram the Dawlish side were kept at bay. When the defence was penetrated, Harvey Lee in goal comfortably dealt with things. Dawlish Barca, somewhat against the run of play, netted twice early in the second half. Christopher Lucas, making his debut, joined the midfield and his tough tackling helped drive the team forward. In the last minute Harvey Haysom burst through several tackles and passed to Lewis Clyburn who beat a defender then shot the ball between the keeper’s legs to give the Troopers a deserved consolation goal.
