There were some notable absences from the Tuesday Mixed line-up because they were away at St Pierre, Chepstow, to support the Honiton Golf Club’s ladies’ and men’s pairings, who had both qualified for the Daily Mail Foursomes Finals, writes Ann Desmoulins.
Nevertheless, there were still 28 players taking part in the first of a new format, known as the Honiton Waltz; one score to count, then two scores to count, then three scores to count, before back again to one, two three, throughout the round.
With a score of 77 points, the winning team comprised of Steph Barnes, Cathy Uttley, Bob Barnes and Lee Watson-Jones.
They were well ahead of the second place team of Cherry and James Liell and Vicki and Barry Rogers, scoring 72 points with a better back nine than the next best team.
