There was the monthly draw for partners in last week’s Tuesday Mixed, with 28 players taking part in the Greensomes competition, writes John Pawley.
The winners, Lesley Farley and Paul Ritchie, took full advantage of the course being in excellent condition, scoring a handsome 42 points, well clear of Cathy Uttley and Stan Squire in second place with 38 points.
Third and fourth places were decided on countback, with both pairs scoring 36 points.
What’s more they also had equal scored on the back nine, back six, back three and back one!
It was only after comparing the scores on the front nine, that Penny Blackburn and Chris Poole were awarded third place, with Sue Kelson and John Frith having to settle for fourth.
