Honiton Tuesday Mixed success for Sue Ritchie and Mike Delaney

Archant

The past week was another grim one in terms of course action for Honiton golfers, writes Ann Desmoulins.

Once again, just one of the club groups ‘got lucky’ as the weather held all the aces.

It was the Tuesday Mixed group who, after a couple of weeks of disappointing weather, managed to get out onto the course to contest a full 18-hole competition.

The format was an American Foursomes and 24 players took part.

The winning pair, with 36 points, were Sue Ritchie and Mike Delaney and second placed, scoring 35 points, were Maureen Tollemache and Bob Barnes. Third place went to Sue Kelson and Paul Ritchie with 34 points.

The ladies had no joy! As seems to be the norm of late, Wednesdays seem to be out of favour with the weather lords and, while the course was in fact open, it did not stay that way and there was a general reluctance to wade through puddles anyway!

So, once again it was a case of social golf to the fore with coffee and chat the order of the day.

A similar watery end befell any hopes of the senior section seeing action and so they also had to put plans on hold and colectively hope for drier conditions soon!
