Honiton Under-11s produced a stunning performance to win comfortably on their visit to Wellington.

The young Lacemen were forced to travel to S9omerset with just eight players and pitched up to fine the home side having as many as 20 available!

However, the Honiton youngsters rose to the occasion to bag a superb 65-15 success.

Wellington took an early lead, but back came Honiton with Joe Evans taking a high ball in his own twenty-two before throwing a dummy to outwit defenders and sprint in for the first Honiton try.

That sparked a period of domination for the Devon side with Edward Grimshaw, looking comfortable at number ten, orchestrating things, running his trademark straight, hard lines, breaking tackles and creating opportunities.

Grimshaw scored two superb tries of his own whilst he also put Josh Giles in for three.

Giles, with his socks rolled down and sleeves rolled up, caused mayhem amongst the opposition, drawing in defenders to create space outside for wingman Billy Tarr to scorch in for two tries in quick succession before the first half was up.

After the break Isaac Stanbury showed his strength to steal the ball four times to thwart certain tries!

Stanbury set the standard in the tight, followed by Felix Robinson, who showed incredible development in his rucking game during this encounter.

Honiton looked mature at the set piece with Man of the Match Grimshaw calling the shots, bringing the strong running Luke Matthews into play off his shoulder and from one such movement another try was scored.

With ten minutes to go Matthews broke two tackles in his own half, showing slight of hand to put George Langrish in for a run up the wing. Langrish, coming of age in this match, could have scored two tries of his own had it not been for some solid home defending.

With the game as good as over, Joe Evans scored four more times from scrum-half, the opposition unable to cope with his blistering pace off the mark.

Billy Tarr, not content with his two tries and with a never say die attitude, showed incredible resilience to save two long range Wellington tries late on with trade mark scything tackles. The final whistle was greeted with great roars of appreciation from both sets of supporters, acknowledging what a fine performance Honiton has served up.
