Playing only their third fixture in as many months, the Honiton Under-8s beat both the weather and their visitors Teignmouth, writes Ben Lee.

Fielding two teams, the Warriors claimed wins in both games. This means that they have been victorious in the home and away fixtures against Teignmouth this season.

Four tries by Ben Briar helped the Warriors to a hard fought, but narrow, 9-7 victory over their opponents. Tom Burroughs, Finlay Lowman and Josh Mathews also contributed to the score, with some good running by Josh throughout the game. Teignmouth’s score was kept down by strong tackling by Mathew Thompson, Finlay Lowman and Lucas Hannay. Coach Lee Chester praised Honiton for their performance as they have not had much opportunity to play recently, and all players stepped up their game, against a very quick-running Teignmouth team.

The second match saw a wider margin as the Warriors won 14-9 win, partly thanks to some excellent running by Connor Chester and great support play by Josh Woollacott and Charlie White. Contributions to the score came from Ethan Forwell and Charlie White, who scored five tries each; and two apiece from Mathew Ducker and Josh Woollacott. It was a good team performance, with the team’s strength being their passing, which has improved immensely this season.
