By Ann ReedHoniton Hornets HC 2, Ottery Crickets 2With both Honiton and Ottery Crickets, playing on their home pitch (since they share the Ottery pitch), this was set fair to be a cracking local derby as Honiton hosted their final League match of the season. No goals were scored in the first half although the desire to do so was intense from both teams! But 12 minutes into the second half Honiton went ahead when a penalty corner was awarded and Julie Tucker took the ball on her stick from the pass, slamming the ball home. Shortly afterwards Ottery replied with a goal of their own. Honiton responded to the challenge and, when a further penalty corner was awarded, Vanessa Trude positioned herself right on the goal post to score. Both sides - late in each half - managed to make the ball hit the backboard, but the goals were not allowed as the whistle had already been blown! This was a great way to finish the season.
