A full week of games for the club without interruptions from the weather, in fact at times some players found it quite hot. Mixed fortunes again in the leagues, the ladies and the A team both securing eight points in their games but the championship side only managed two points away to Alexandra Park, writes Paul Moffitt.

Ladies’ Captain Ann Allman, held her annual ‘Lady Captain’s Day’ on Thursday with invited teams from Axminster, Bridport, Chardstock, Seaton, Westlands and a guest team comprising the President of the Dorset Women’s Bowling League and the Vice-President of Bowls Dorset.

The competition is played on a ‘round-robin’ basis with the winning team collecting the Captain’s Cup. The game was followed by a superb meal in the clubhouse beautifully arranged by catering officer Sue Wood and her many helpers.

Lyme failed to win either of the friendlies, being well beaten in their annual fixture against Cardiff. This game was finished off with a barbecue, the players also being treated to the Red Arrows halfway through the game!
