Hurst just pipped in county final

Colyton Grammar student Emma Hurst, age 15, narrowly lost the Senior County final last weekend 6-4 7-5 to Torquay tennis coach Kendal Brown.

Emma, who trains at Seaton Tennis Club, beat Exeter's Katie Miller in the quarter final, and number one seed Kate Brown 6-3 6-2 in the semi-final.

Emma adapted well to the clay court surface at Torquay and put up a spirited fight in the final but Kendal proved too strong on the day and claimed the match in front of a home crowd.
