Me and my big mouth. Last week I reported that Honiton hadn't yet lost a game to winter weather, writes Andy Wagner.

Well, although Sunday’s Texas Scramble sneaked through in cold conditions, the rest of the week was lost to Monday's frozen snowfall. Still, a change is as good as a rest they say and the Texas Scramble was cast as a fun game to break up the pressure of the Winter League games.

Of course these games bring pressures of their own as each player tries in turn to sink the final shot on each hole.

This week's inspired threesome were Mark Fowler, Eric Short and Richard Reece who beat the field with a nett 59.1.

A close second were Sid Martin, Mike Godfrey and Richard Beard with 61.4 leaving Phil Wall, Max Pipe and Andy Sharland on 62.1, ruing those few missed putts, in third.
