AVR athletes Tim Lenton, James Jackson and Robin Cater ran the Little Long Run, writes Diane Newton.

This Grade B fell run organised by Graham Hill of Sidmouth Running Club starts at Newton Poppleford alongside the River Otter and takes the runners over a fantastic course over private farm land and tracks up to Mutters Moor.

There were lots of ups and downs with a final steep climb and a lovely descent through fields to the finish via two river crossings.

Tim and three other runners took a wrong turn soon after the start putting an unsuspecting James into the lead. Tim ran hard to catch James at the end of the descent, but James dug in over the flat to win the race in 32:46. Tim had to settle for second place in 33:00.Robin was third lady back and also took the first vet over 45 prize. James and Robin also teamed up with two runners from Exmouth Harriers, John and Lorraine Croome, to win the team prize under the name of the Moor Misfits. Thanks to Graham Hill for a great race, and also for the loan of a pair of shorts as otherwise James would not have been able to run.

Another AVR runner, Becky Lippet, travelled back to her home city of Bristol to run the Bristol Half Marathon and had an excellent run to achieve a PB of 1:57:39, coming 4,050th out of 15,000 runners.
