Another fun game was played, a Texas Scramble, for the members to form into teams of three and blame each other for their misfortunes, writes Andy Wagner.

Most of players decided on teams of 'usual suspects' so they could play with a world-weary knowledge of partners’ foibles rather than quietly regret putting our names with other 'pot hunters' on the make. Handicaps worked out as 10 per cent of their combined number which accounts for the final results ending in decimal points.

Because this was a fun game the eventual placings didn't find their way to the results board and because I was so surprised to learn my team (Andy Harrison and John Marchant) had come second, I forgot to make a note of the other winners. Our final card number was 63.8 and that the winners carded 63.5 which seemed harsh, if nigh on impossible. I also remember a happy and smiling Stan Squire telling me in great detail that it was his 'chip in' on the 18th that was the 0.3 of a shot that beat us. Well done to Stan for his much practised 'miracle chip' for ruining an otherwise perfect morning.

?The Mixed Treble Six competition was played in fine weather on Diamond Jubilee bank holiday Monday. The winners with a fantastic score of 43 points, were Charlie and Catherine Doherty.

In second place, on count back, with 41 points, were Terry Dimond and Penny Blackburn, and in third place, also with 41 points, were Peter and Heather Clarke. There were three twos, all on the second hole. Peter Clarke, Cyril Dan and Paul Coates each received nine balls.
